This past week we were blessed by a group called SERVE. This group came to the farm for three days helping with weeding, bug picking, trellising and manure spreading. Loads of weeds were pulled, the fields have never looked better, and 1.5lbs of bugs were hand picked! Thank you for your help SERVE! Here are…

Planting Squash on Hill Top
Between the rain showers we manage to get all our winter squash and pumpkins planted up in the field at Hill Top. Extra hands made quick work of the the 8 flats of perfect seedlings all ready to get into the ground. We look forward to a great pumpkin harvest this year!
Fall Harvest
Fall leaves, blue skies, crisp air…pumpkin harvest! Nothing says fall more than these. All the pumpkins and winter squash are safe in the barn with the help of many hands! In a matter of just over an hour we had the field picked clean. Thanks to family and friends for their help!
Squash Planting
Today, on the hottest day yet of the year, we spent the morning planting a variety of squash and pumpkins. These we plant off site on a near by picturesque hill top. Half of the field is planted with squash transplants while the other is seeded with a cover crop of buckwheat. Enjoy some pictures…

After tilling an harrowing we planted buckwheat for weed suppression, ground cover and biomass production. We hope that this…
Asparagus Mulching
As the new asparagus shoots get established, so have the weeds. To stay ahead of the weeds we laid several layers of newspaper on the freshly weeded soil and then covered it with 2 cut hay. We hope that this mulching will help eliminate weeds. We also added some lime to the soil since it…
