Harvest Celebration

Abundance Acres held its Annual Harvest Celebration in October. What a hit this year! We had an exceptional turnout and a great amount of volunteers who helped run the many booths. Booths offered pumpkin carving, pumpkin painting, leaf prints, face painting, cider pressing, a scavenger hunt, water slide, pumpkin bowling, roasted corn on the cob,…

Pumpkin Yeast Bread

This recipe is a variation of a family recipe I received from my mother. I’ve simplified the recipe from a sweet dessert bread to more of a versatile ‘every-day’ kind of recipe. I love the color pumpkin and egg gives to the bread and why not enjoy it more than just on special occasions! I…

Healthy Pumpkin Bread

Pumpkin Stuffed with Everything Good

How can you go wrong with a such a name? This is a lovely fall dish; great as a side or make it the whole meal! I only had white bread to use in the trial, but think a whole wheat or multi-grain bread would be heartier. The recipe comes from “Around My French Table,”…

Pumpkin Bars

These bars are simply the best because they are easy and bursting with the autumn flavors of pumpkin and spice! You can add a simple cream cheese frosting to dress it up, but I love it just as it is. Ingredients: 4 eggs 1 cup oil 2 cups sugar 1 cup pumpkin 1/2 tsp salt…

Squash Harvest

Nothing says fall like bushels of pumpkins and squash! After a disappointing growing season last year, we moved our pumpkin/squash patch to a nearby hill top. They grew wonderfully in their new sunny, warm location! With many helping hands, we harvested the entire field and have stored the bounty away to slowly distribute in the…
